Video Editing and Content Creation

Plan, shoot, edit and publish clear, honest videos with a phone and free tools, from first idea to a finished 60-second video for an organisation.

About this course

Video is how many people learn, shop, follow news and decide whether to trust an organisation. A short, clear video can show a school project, promote a small business, teach a skill or tell a community story, and you can make one with the phone you already own.

This course takes you through the whole process. You will plan content for a real audience, shoot with good framing, light and sound, edit using free tools, add captions, music and graphics, export for each platform, and publish and learn from the results. You will also learn how to film people respectfully, especially children, and how to be honest in what you share.

The lessons use free tools described by kind: a free phone video editor, a free desktop editor such as DaVinci Resolve or Shotcut, and Canva video. Screens and menu names differ between tools and change over time, so focus on the ideas and look for the matching button in your own tool. The last lesson is a capstone: a 60-second video for an NGO from plan to publish.
