Almost everyone feels nervous before speaking to a group. Yet speaking up is one of the most useful skills you can build: it helps you defend a school project, lead a community meeting, brief your team at work, introduce yourself in a job interview and persuade people to support a good idea. This course treats confidence as a skill you can practise, not a talent some people are born with.
You will begin by understanding why fear happens and what it does to your body, then learn breathing, warm-up, posture and mindset techniques that genuinely help. Next you will learn to know your audience, plan a talk with an opening hook, three main points, a close and a call to action, tell stories and examples, and use notes instead of reading from a page or a slide.
You will then design simple slides with PowerPoint, Google Slides or Canva, work on your voice, pace, pauses and body language, rehearse and record yourself, and handle questions, interruptions, difficult audiences and mistakes. The final modules cover online presenting, classrooms, churches, community meetings, interviews and workplace briefings, persuasive speaking with honesty, respect for culture and language mixing in East Africa, and a 30-day plan to keep growing.
