Digital Finance, Mobile Money and Safe Online Payments

Manage money in a digital world: budgeting, saving, mobile money, bank apps, online payments, scams, loans, insurance and simple records for a small business, with a strong focus on staying safe.

About this course

Money has moved onto our phones. Millions of people in East Africa now receive wages, pay school fees, buy airtime, save and borrow through mobile money, bank apps and online shops. This brings speed and convenience, but it also brings new risks: fake agents, SIM swap fraud, phishing messages, predatory digital loans and investment schemes that promise easy riches.

This course teaches the basic ideas of personal and small-business money management and shows how to use digital financial services with confidence. You will learn to budget and save, understand interest and loan costs, use mobile money and bank apps correctly, pay online and by QR code, recognise and report scams, keep simple records and accept digital payments in a small business.

No experience is needed. The course gives general education only. It does not give personal financial advice, and it does not recommend any company. Rules, limits, fees and consumer protections differ between countries and between providers, so always check the current terms from your own provider and your national regulator.
